The Giant Ferris Wheel – The MOA Eye

100_8186

Jogging at the SM Mall of Asia for almost every other day or about four to five times a week for several years now made me see all the changes and developments of the place.  I witnessed the Mall of Asia’s “development”, from the time the first foundations of the first establishments were put-up until its inaugurations.  Before the new shops, attractions and almost all the establishments are launched to the public I witnessed almost all of them built from scratches. Because of this it got me into considering putting a special category in this blog titled “Dissecting the Mall of Asia” (nice idea isn’t it?).  I am one lucky “urbanista” having to live conveniently near the SM Mall of Asia.  It is not only an awesome place to go but for me, it is also very informative.

And as usual during my regular running routine at MOA’s bay area, sometime in September of this year, I saw these humongous metals piled up in the bay area and I was wondering what are those for.  Again, I witnessed how it was put-up one by one and how it materialized into one huge form of a giant ferris wheel.  I never failed to gasp each running morning when I see that a new metal installment is added. It was really one exciting experience having to witness such a huge structure built right before my eyes.  Unfortunately, my camera was not with me during those runs as I usually run “light” when I’m doing serious running.  Luckily though two days after it’s lightning ceremony on December 16, I have with me my camera and I am able to take some photos and here I am sharing them with you, plus the details about the Giant Ferris Wheel at the Mall of Asia also known as The MOA Eye.
    • It is called The MOA Eye, The Tallest and Biggest Ferris Wheel in the Philippines.  It was named after the “London Eye”.  It is also called the “observation wheel”
    • It is bigger than the Enchanted Kingdom’s Wheel of Fate in Sta. Rosa, Laguna, Philippines
    • It measures 55-foot tall (175 feet) with 36 air-conditioned gondolas, each capable of seating up to six persons,  averaging 10-15 minutes full circle.
    • a 10 minute ride will cost you PhP 150.00
    • It is located at San Miguel Bay City breakwaters of Manila Bay in the SM Mall of Asia amusement complex

When we have the opportunity to ride this giant ferris wheel, I will share with you again my experience and probably some more beautiful photos taken while on top. Hope I will capture and record the "ooooohs"  and the "aaaaahs"!

Missionaries of Charity Home of Joy for the Sick Children

“this place will break your heart, will make you cry, will make you want to reach out, and will make you feel grateful & thankful, all at the same time…”   They are located at: 1030 Tayuman Street, Tondo, Manila. Their telephone number is (+632) 255-0832 and the contact person is Sister Anselm. I wrote that caption in this same season last year, my first time to visit a place called “Missionaries of Charity Home of Joy for the Sick Children”.  I was with a  group of friends along with our respective families.  I could never be thankful enough to our friend Rupert and his family for leading us to this place.  It was not my first time to do a charity visit to an orphanage and I sort of wonder why we were “brief” that this is for special children.  I only realized what that briefing is about when I see for myself how “special” these children are.  I apologize if this may not sound good to some, but the sight of the sick children is heartbreaking.  I tried to look tough and not to

Go Kart at SM Mall of Asia Amusement Complex

I’m doing my usual morning run at the SM Mall of Asia bay side when I spotted this area.  It kind of caught me by surprise seeing this area as colorful and lively because I remember during my last run, this area is used to be surrounded with iron sheets coverings, the same thing when there’s something being constructed inside the coverings.  And then I remembered that I had a short break from my morning run.  It seems like this activity is launched while I was on short break from my morning run.   As usual, every time I see something new that looks exciting, I am excited to share the info to you all.  So for those who are into cars and driving, this one’s for you! “Go Kart” ! It is located along the breakwaters of Manila Bay at the SM Mall of Asia Amusement Complex just right after the The Giant Ferris Wheel/The MOA Eye .  Locational Photo The fee and basic rules Fun and Safety Rules are properly posted in the area but to give you some advance info on what to wear
