170/365: Something About “Joe” On His Birthday

19th of June

Believe it or not I had several units of Jose Rizal courses back in college but if I will be asked “What happened to the remains of our national hero Jose P. Rizal after he was executed?”

– I can not answer that.

Not so long ago I heard the same question was asked in a TV show similar to the concept of “Who Wants To Be A Millionaire” and nobody among the contestants was able to answer.  I remember researching for an answer for this question but failed to find the answer I was looking for.

So this question remained parked on my head unanswered until one day while I was exploring the historical Paco Park I found the exact answer.

The tomb stone says:

Jose Rizal
Executed 30 December 1896.  Interred secretly in this spot by the authorities on the same day.  Guarded for fifteen days by the Guardia Civil Veterana.  Remains exhumed 17 August 1898.  Placed in an urn made by Teodoro Romualdo De Jesus.  Deposited in the house of his mother in Estraude Street, Binondo.  And on 30 December 1912 laid beneath his monument at the Luneta.

This a special post dedicated to our National Hero José Protacio Rizal Mercado y Alonso Realonda who was born on this day - June 19 in 1861 and executed on December 30, 1896.

168/365: Ramblings Of An (Un)Deserving Soldier

17th of June

A platoon consisting of mostly new soldiers went to war.
The captain is either late or gone missing.
Halfway along the early part of the battle the lieutenant got wounded.
One private is watching in silence while fighting,
and saw that the battle is being manipulated by a double-faced ally
The private without being tasked volunteered to front the battle defying the odds from the double-faced ally.
She offered her own weapons and even covered her wounded comrades with her own shield until she was able to pull them to safety,
She did all that she could in the very limited resources that she has as a private.
Eventually this private got wounded but the battle is currently being won.
The captain is happy and proud.
He asked this wounded private soldier and asked
"Why are you wounded?"

we can do it

… from the rambling thoughts of a soldier who's in the battle field for quite a huge part of her life but never desired for a title nor a medal.

167/365: Warning: This Is A Rant Post On A Monday The 16th!

16th of June

Rant 1 Prelude
Just when I set my mind that this first day of the week will not just be fine but great.  So I tried inhaling all the positive vibes to start my day right and promised to stretch it through the whole week, then suddenly baaam! it’s ruined!
“I'm no political I'm no showbiz. I say facts straightforward because I believe I don't need to please people in stating the facts”
This is me – always do and always will be.  Sadly most people (especially at work)  will not appreciate your straightforwardness, honesty and frankness.  They choose to hear sugar coated things rather than the truth.  Their stupid egos can’t handle the truth!

keep calm

Rant 2
Do you know a person who has gotten a minor title (maybe) for the first time in her life suddenly went floating from her own-created hurricane wind and wants everybody to bow down to her “power”? The phrase “I’m the Queen of the world!” is written all over her face?
Well it would be lovely to tell her …

“Jeez!
Get out and expose yourself to the real hurricane so you’ll see for yourself that you’re nothing but a piece of object among the tons that can be tossed around and smashed into oblivion. If you survive then that’s the time you can be proud! But for now keep calm and be humble!

Because if you don't, someone who's experienced enough to handle the worst hurricane will come along and blow the strongest wind right into your face and you'll be tossed and smashed the way you never experienced before.”

Rant 3:
Government offices always have the service that s*cks BIG TIME especially to ordinary citizen like me who happens to be one among the people paying their salaries through my taxes.  But I’ve learned to adapt and be patient to their inefficiency  no matter how frustrating it is.  It was like “for the sake of world peace I will bear with you.”   And then I will just maximized the stretch of my not-so-elastic-patience”.

But when it comes to private service provider it is so d*mn frustrating when you get poor service. You wanted to shout…

“Hey people we are paying you extra!
You see I came from a sh*tty day at work and you’re making me wait here? This is my third visit from my pre-approved schedule for five visits.  Why do I need to wait for an approval confirmation on each visit while in fact it was approved from day one?
I hate waiting especially if the cause is senseless.  Who loves waiting anyway?  And mind you I have another itinerary after this so it’s not funny that you are making me wait for a senseless reason!”

Rant 3!

Traffic!
What else can I say? I can’t do anything about this and it’s stupid to rant – I know right?
The only thing I could do is to wish that this vehicle will miraculously grow a unicorn wing and fly me out of this one-hell-of-non-moving line of horn-blowing metals with wheels so I can reach my destination in time.

Enough said. Enough rant.

By the way, congratulations to all people who’s having a good day today.  You are so so blessed!
