A Simple Domain How To and From This Point Forward

images First off THANK YOU for all the congratulations sent to this blog on becoming a “.com”!  I’m in high hopes that this will motivate me big time and go back on regular posting.

Here are some things that should be expected from this point forward (so dramatic lol)

Some posts from my other blog that is closing soon (The Lucky Blog) will be imported here.  So if you’ll find some posts here that seems familiar you may have come across them from my other blog. There’s also some other post that I will be importing from my “Pinoy Anik Anik” blog but it will happen much later.

I will also cover a variety of topics and may host selected giveaways and do product reviews and the likes. I’m sure my bunch of intelligent readers, followers and blogger friends will appreciate the variety.  And i assure you it will be a lot cooler!

I am also considering activating comment moderation.  I really don’t like this feature but “blog sabotage”, spamming and the likes are becoming a trend lately so I’m just being cautious. (I’m still thinking about this till posting time)

Domain “how to”
For those asking “how to/where to” acquire a domain here’s how I’m doing it.  Don’t expect a techie one because I am not that techie but I’m not paying a person to do it for me either.  It’s all by myself with lots of readings and tweaking.

I’m buying my domain from GoDaddy.com. Just search it and I’m sure the mighty goggle will not let you down. It is usually priced between $10 .00 to $12.00. Just create an account so you can avail of their promo codes. I bought my running blog domain last year and it’s still around the same price when I renewed it this year. Sometimes they have “buy one get one free” offer. Remember I got The Lucky Blog domain for free?

GoDaddy Will I get extra discount from GoDaddy for posting this? Let’s see (wink*)

GoDaddy is accepting several payment options. I am using PayPal and credit card. A local debit card is acceptable too but I haven’t tried it yet.

Blogger or whatever platform you are using has their own tutorial on how to “direct” (install) your existing blog to the new domain. GoDaddy too has user friendly instruction on how to install your domain. And if you need extra help, again just click on the mighty Google and you will find lots of friendly sites that offer help on “how to install a domain”. But if you are more comfortable asking me I’m just around - drop me a message to wherever you are comfortable. I’m on Facebook (Like Me), Twitter (Follow Me) or just simply Contact Me.

If you have a domain in mind but not ready to use it you can just buy and “park” it until you are ready to use it. That’s what I usually do. It is some sort of “reserve”. I advise that you do this when your blog is ranking good or becoming popular.

The cons (when you convert an existing blog under a free platform into a domain)
You will temporarily lose your Page Rank but it will be back in no time as long as you take care of your blog the way you are taking care of it when it was still under the free platform. No worries though about the view count it will remain the same.

Your template or blog set up will be messed up so be ready for the re-work. To avoid this some people start a blog with a domain. But for someone like me who “promised myself that I will spend money for my blog only when I earned it from blogging” – I’m experiencing the consequence now ha ha.

The truth.
And yes - the fund that I spent to buy my domain is not from my personal pocket but from the little things I got from here and there of blogging. So I’m enjoying working on the consequence right now ha ha!  But don’t ever think that blogging will make you instantly rich or some kind of like that.  Just blog away and enjoy – that’s what I’m doing. Sometimes luck just come along (wink*).

So go ahead – come blog away with me!

  5. Congrats-Congrats ate! Level up na talaga!

I recommend nga na magkaroon ka ng comment moderation just like na ginagawa ko (kaya siguro akala ng iba hindi pumapasok). may isa kasing instance na yung old blogger ay nagbalik at nag-comment sa blog ko. eh yung blog pla nya may virus na so nadamay ako at pati lahat ng domains under sa webhost ko. so careful lang di ba.

Ulit mabuhay and more inspiring blog posts to come.

    1. I will THANKS sa info sis. Actually hindi pa talaga ako nag-a-apply sa mga ganyan kasi wala nga akong time. I just grab pag may mga kusang dumadating at marami akong tinatanggihan kasi hindi ko rin naman mabigyan minsan ng oras :(

Hopefully in the future pag marami na akong free time :)

  11. THANKS MAnong Unyol. Nandito lang ako pag kelangan ng aking konting nalalaman just et me know :)

Honestly I don't care much to whatever is searchable or not pagdating sa site na eto. I blog what my heart desires. Minsan kasi sunod tayo ng sunod sa mga utos ng search engine nawawala na yung heart ng pagsusulat... pero kung purely income siguro yung target pwede...

  12. Oh god, don't use GoDaddy. Just don't. Do you know why they're so cheap? Because their customer service and their uptime is terrible. You get what you pay for. Also, they support Internet censorship bills like SOPA so GoDaddy can go die.

For a site I built, I used Namecheap for the domain, and hosted it via Hostgator. Pricey, but I get the service I need.

  13. LOL Dwei why did you tell me just now? Most blogger friends I know are using GoDaddy for their blog sites. Anyhoo am taking note of that and I'm sure my blogger friends and readers is noting about your comment too.

But if I'm going to build another site other than blog I'll be sure scouting for other domain provider. As for the hosting somebody recommended Hostgator to me too and I have another one on my list.

    THANKS for the insight :)

  14. I've always wanted to have my own domain too. But after reading all these stuff i realized that it needs too much effort. Kaya wag na lang. Nakakatamad. Hahaja! Anyway, congrats na rin. It'sa good thing na sobrang taas ng confidence level mo, you don't have to spend money on cosmetic surgery kaya sa blog mo na lang ibuhos ang funds mo. Hehehehe! Sorry hindi pa rin ako maa move on dun sa comment mo. Hahaha!

Thanks for the helpful tips. Maybe one day i really miht consider getting a new domain. And i'm looking forward to interesting, funny, and inspiring posts.

  15. Naku medyo matrabaho talaga pag naglagay ng domain dami work.

Baha ha ha hindi ka talaga maka-move on! Triple dead ka talaga sa confidence level ko ha ha ha. Oist hindi yun confidence level = truth yun. Hayan humirit pa rin ako ha ha ha :P

You're welcome and my pleasure to see you here :)

  16. I decided to go .com just less than 3 months after the creation of my second blog, 500 pesos a year I think is not much kahit pa galing sa sariling bulsa. I chose a Pinoy provider, never had a downtime in my first year, may online support pa na pinoy na pinoy...hehe!

Missionaries of Charity Home of Joy for the Sick Children

“this place will break your heart, will make you cry, will make you want to reach out, and will make you feel grateful & thankful, all at the same time…”   They are located at: 1030 Tayuman Street, Tondo, Manila. Their telephone number is (+632) 255-0832 and the contact person is Sister Anselm. I wrote that caption in this same season last year, my first time to visit a place called “Missionaries of Charity Home of Joy for the Sick Children”.  I was with a  group of friends along with our respective families.  I could never be thankful enough to our friend Rupert and his family for leading us to this place.  It was not my first time to do a charity visit to an orphanage and I sort of wonder why we were “brief” that this is for special children.  I only realized what that briefing is about when I see for myself how “special” these children are.  I apologize if this may not sound good to some, but the sight of the sick children is heartbreaking.  I tried to look tough and not to

Go Kart at SM Mall of Asia Amusement Complex

I’m doing my usual morning run at the SM Mall of Asia bay side when I spotted this area.  It kind of caught me by surprise seeing this area as colorful and lively because I remember during my last run, this area is used to be surrounded with iron sheets coverings, the same thing when there’s something being constructed inside the coverings.  And then I remembered that I had a short break from my morning run.  It seems like this activity is launched while I was on short break from my morning run.   As usual, every time I see something new that looks exciting, I am excited to share the info to you all.  So for those who are into cars and driving, this one’s for you! “Go Kart” ! It is located along the breakwaters of Manila Bay at the SM Mall of Asia Amusement Complex just right after the The Giant Ferris Wheel/The MOA Eye .  Locational Photo The fee and basic rules Fun and Safety Rules are properly posted in the area but to give you some advance info on what to wear
